Theater/Musicals

Cabaret

It was an experience playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret with 150 extras on stage and a 12 man orchestra on a revolving stage in an aircraft hangar from the thirties. The show was a massive success and was sold-out for 150 shows and extended twice. The media and the excellent reviews helped to establish me in the business. I tapped, danced and had 10 costume changes. I also drank 1 prairie oyster, one raw egg mixed with Worchester sauce every night. That makes 150 prairie oysters, not included rehearsals! Please, read the reviews here.

West Side Story

Playing Anita in West Side Story on National Tour was great fun. The show was a big hit and was extended twice.. Please, read the reviews here.

Antony and Cleopatra

I played Cleopatra in Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra at The Mac’Owen Theatre in London. I love playing Shakespeare.

Chess

Florence in CHESS! What a role! And what music! I’d love to do Mamma Mia as well!

I Do! I Do!

I played Agnes in “I Do! I Do!” on tour.

Théâtre du Soleil

Developing Les Éphémères with Madame Ariane Mnouchkine and her world famous theatre company Theatre du Soleil was one of the most, creative, gruelling and overwhelming experiences I’ve ever had on stage. It inspired so much that when I returned home I began creating the show that later became my one woman show “Kabaret Verboten”. I also wrote about my experiences. My story and sketches were published in the magazine AKT.

East Beyond West West Beyond East

This Pina Pausch-insipred with music, dancing and theatre and a stylized form was created by us -- 12 actors and a director during a year of rehearsals. We were invited to perform in Warsaw at Kulturpalatskij- and that was an extraordinary experience.

My Fair Lady

As Miss Ollie in My Fair Lady, I got to play in the beautiful Art Nouveau Theatre OSCARS- which is the equivalence to a Broadway theatre in Sweden. I got to dance the waltz in a white silk dress covered with gold lace, go to the horserace at Ascot wearing an amazing French lace dress and oversized hat. I also danced the carefree and wild dance of the flower girl in the bar. Next time I’d love to play Eliza herself.

Wizard of Oz

Much to my surprise I was cast as Glinda the Good witch and not the bad witch in The Wizard of Oz. however, I really took a liking to living in Glinda’s world. Every night when I made my entrance from behind the audience and saw their reaction - was magical. One night a little girl of five opened her arms wide and whispered with amazement: "There you are!!!" I just had to hug her before I floated up on stage.

Antigone

I did Antigone's monologue
by Anouilh in a Showcase at
The MacOwan Theatre in London.

An Overfed Crab

This one-woman show had some of my favorite songs and favorite characters in it. Remind me to someday tell you the amusing story of how the show got its name!

The Second Sex

When I created this one-woman show I was inspired by Simone de Beauvoir’s book with the same name. I had just come home from Paris and Theatre du Soleil where we worked with Commedia de’ll Arte – an extremely entertaining and over the top theatre form. One of the characters I played was the Commedia de’ll Arte character Pantalone, a wonderful, stingy and chauvinistic businessman- but in Paris we turned him into Madame Pantalone. I also played 10 other characters- both men and women. This piece was very physical and contained singing, dancing, and even a little striptease.

Poor But Happy

I played a Russian immigrant in this black comedy with The National Touring Theatre. We went on a five month- tour and had a lot of fun together.

The House of Bernarda Alba

The House of Bernarda Alba had a lot
of Flamenco and singing in it.
I played Amelia on the tour.

Love Me!

I starred in this brilliant, newly written play about a 12 year old girl and her family. Yes, I played the 12 year- old. I wore a special bra that flattened my breasts. We were three actors that did everything from driving a very slow bus for hours on end, to building the intricate set, managing sound and lighting, putting on make- up, doing the show and tearing the set down, packing the bus, driving to the second show of the day- and doing it all over again…The kids loved the show. I loved playing the show for them and didn't really enjoy the rest.

Children of the Sun

Fima was another wonderful character in a Gorky play that I enjoyed playing. She was fun and bold. Apart from her being an interesting character she allowed me to do wild things. There was a stream with real water in it on stage and every night I had to push my lover into it!! Fima also had to drop a lot of plates on stage which wasn’t as easy as it might seem.

The Lower Depths

We played Maxim Gorky’s “The Lower Depths” in an old church as well as in a theatre in London. I feel so connected to his and Chechov’s work. It must be my Russian blood. I learned a lot from playing Nastya. I was touched by her big dreams and sad life.

TV/Film

Skilda Världar

Margot Wahlberg was a tough copywriter that
I played in the Daytime TV drama “Separate Worlds".

Where Violence Ends

Playing the suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst in the feature film “Where Violence Ends” was an honour. This incredible woman fought for women’s right to vote and paid a high prize, imprisonment, going on hunger strikes and being force-fed - but thanks to her women have the vote today.

Hassel - The Destroyer

I played Gullan- the girlfriend of a wounded policeman in this Feature Film.

Get a Grip!

I played a working class girl in this film.

Commercial for the Telecom Company Kiconsulting

I was friends and had worked with everyone in this commercial before - so I felt at ease and knew that the finished product would be great!

Commercial for Sony Ericsson

We did this job in Marbella in Spain - and it was lots of fun.

Commercial for Jacob's Coffee

This was pure pleasure! I had to sit next to a dog in a luxurious apartment in Vienna and drink Coca Cola and play cards an entire day (I don’t drink coffee) while beautiful men arranged my surroundings. The Director was super! The second day, we filmed in an amazing villa in the beautiful mountains of Vienna. There was a thunderstorm and the lightning struck in the valley below us. Meanwhile the gorgeous assistants served us delicious, healthy food and- yeah, it was pure pleasure.  And it paid well too…
